Elkader Register, Thur., 7 Feb. 1924. Local News columns.

Ben F. Falkenhainer died at his home in Elkader Wednesday morning Feb. 6th at 9:20 o'clock. Mr. Fakenhainer had been a sufferer from diabetes for a number of years and the disease gradually sapped his strength until the end came.

Benjamin Franklin Falkenhainer was born at Guttenberg, Iowa, July 6, 1864, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Falkenhainer, early residents of that place. He grew to manhood there and learned the watchmaker's trade. About 1885 he came to Elkader and engaged in the jewelry business for a number of years.

On November 2, 1887, he was married to Miss Catherine Schmidt, of this place, who has been his devoted wife and companion throughout the years and now survives him. For some years past Mr. Falkenhainer has had charge of the local exchange of the Com_______ Farmers Telephone Co.

Mr. Falkenhainer was a trustee of the New Evangelical church, a member of the Evangelical Broherhood and member of the Elkader Lodge, No. 72, A.F. & A.M. De Molay Consistory, Clinton, Modern Woodman of America and Brotherhood of American Yeomen.

He is survived by three brothers, August at Des Moines, Otto and Albert at Algona, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. J. F. Kenkel of Milwaukee; besides many other distant relatives and many friends who mourn his early departure.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon Feb. 8th 1:30 at the house and 2:00 o'clock at the Evangelical church and the remains of Mr. Falkenhainer will be laid to rest in the East Side cemetery.

There is much regret at the passing of this good Christian man and many friends extend their sympathy to those who sorrow.

(Note: Both spellings of the surname were used in the obit.)
