August F. Schroeder Passes Away.

August Fred Schroeder passed away at his home in this city on Wednesday morning, August 10, 1921, at 7:40 o’clock, after a several days illness with obstruction of the bowels. Deceased was born in Jefferson township, Clayton County, Iowa, on January 8, 1868, and therefore was 53 years, 7 months and 2 days of age at the time of his death. He grew to manhood on a farm in this township, later taking up veterinary surgeon work, which he followed here for many years. He was married at Elkport, Iowa, to Miss Minnie Waterman on June 1, 1904. During his illness he was a patient sufferer and had not given up hopes for recovery until the Angel of Death called him to the Great Beyond. All that loving hands could do and medical knowledge could suggest was done for him to ward off death, but all to no avail. Mr. Schroeder was a kind and loving husband, father, brother and friend, and he was an ambitious man during life. His death is deeply mourned by his wife, four minor children, Russell, Leona, Althea and La Vonne Schroeder, all at home, four brothers, Louis, of Guttenberg, John, of Monona, Ed., of Postville, and George, of Nebraska, and many other relatives and friends, who will all sadly miss him. Funeral services will be held at his late home in this city on Friday afternoon at two o’clock. Interment will be made in the City Cemetery. Rev. J. Janzig, of St. John’s Lutheran Church will conduct funeral services.
