_______88 YEARS OLD
_______Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from the St. John’s Lutheran church for John Henry Mueller, lifetime resident of this community. The services were conducted by Rev. William Domres and burial was in the Guttenberg City cemetery.
Died Saturday
Mr. Mueller died Saturday morning at 6:00 o’clock following an illness of several weeks. He was 88 years of age.
Mr. Mueller was born January 28, 1857, in Guttenberg, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dietrich Mueller, and on May 38, 1885, he married Miss Ann Kohler. To this union one daughter, Mathilda, was born. She died February 8, 1935.
Wife Survives
Mr. Mueller is survived by Mrs. Mueller and two grandchildren, Robert Pink and Mrs. Maxine Saterlee, as well as one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dietrich and Louis, and one sister, Doris, as well as his daughter. A son-in-law, Henry Pink of Waterloo, also survives.
Mr. Mueller was one of Northeast Iowa’s pioneer musicians, having been a member of the famous Dittmer band, one of the community’s first musical groups. He later was a member of the Guttenberg City band.
