Herman Walke, oldest son of Herman Walke of this place, died at his home in Postville, Monday, after a prolonged illness caused by Bright's disease. Deceased was about thirty-nine years of age and was born and reared on a farm in the western part of this township. He was engaged in farming near Postville several years, but a few years ago moved to town and conducted a hotel and had charge of the then Williams stone quarry. Owing to his ailment he was obliged to give up work several months ago and since has been confined to his home. Burial took place at Postville Wednesday, at 1:00 o'clock. The funeral services were conducted under the auspices of the M.W.A., of which order deceased was a member. Surviving him are his wife and two sons, of Postville, and his father, Herman Walke, and two brothers and two sisters, all of Guttenberg, namely, John, Louis, Mrs. H. R. Schutte and Mrs. Frank Saeugling. Other relatives of deceased residing here are his uncles Herman, Louis and Aug. Schroeder, all of whom were in attendance at the funeral as were also his cousins, Fred Walke and Mrs. J. S. Herboldsheimer and husband.
