Funeral services for Mrs. Fadora Baughman Bacon, aged 79, were held Friday afternoon at one o'clock from the home and at 1:30 from the Methodist church. The Rev. H.W. Farnham officiated and burial was made in the city cemetery beside her husband.
Mrs. Bacon was born March 31, 1861, at Caery, Ohio, and when eight years of age moved with her parents to Ossian, Iowa, where 16 years later she married Francis Bacon. The next year they moved to the farm near Monona where the remainder of her life was spent.
Six children were born to them, a daughter dying in infancy, and Ralph and Claude Bacon who, with her husband, preceded her in death. One daughter, Jennie, Mrs. Ed. Lybert of Cresco, and two sons, Harry and Lloyd Bacon, with whom she made her home, survive her. Also two sisters, Mrs. Frances Russell and Mrs. Cleo Mitchell of Luana, and 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren survive her.
Mrs. Bacon worked very hard all her life and loved to work like many of our pioneers. She enjoyed her grandchildren and taught them her love of work. She had many friends with whom she enjoyed visiting. The sympathy of the community is extended the bereaved in their loss.
