Orville N. T. Johnson

Funeral services were held for Orville N. T. Johnson, 76, Tuesday, May 12, 1992, at Leonard-Witt Funeral Home, Elkader. Pastor Ralph M. Chandler officiated the service with burial in East Side Cemetery, Elkader. Honorary casketbearer was Kurtis Yeoman. Pallbearers were Randy Brown, Brian Yeoman, Brent Wills, Jeff Brown, Jeremy Johnson and Dana Franck.

Orvile Johnson was born October 26, 1915, near Elkader, the son of Oscar and Mary (Nelson) Johnson. He was raised and educated in the area attending Clayton County rural schools. On September 4, 1941, he was united in marriage to Berniece Glawe in Elkader. Ten children were born to this union. Over the years he farmed in the area.

After an extended illness, Orville Johnson died Saturday evening, May 9, 1992, at Central Community Hospital in Elkader. He was a member of Norway Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed.

Survivors include his wife Berniece; six daughters, Mrs. Herschel (Orvelda) Wills of Fertile, Mrs. Robert (Vivian) Brown of Poplar Grove, Ill, Mrs. Harold (Marlene) Yeoman of Aurora, Mrs. Ted (Janice) Franck of Winthrop, Mrs. Terry (June) Sellick of Belvidere, Ill., and Mrs. Dr. James (Judy) Deming of Tomah, Wis.; four sons, Dennis of Belvidere, Ill., Valdean of Elkader, Marlin of Guttenberg, and Terry of Elkader; 21 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a brother, Eldo of Elkader.

He was preceded in death by a brother Harvey; and by his parents.
