Funeral services for Kenneth Lewis Johnson were held Monday, May 15, 1989 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana. Pastor Gene Kramer officiated with burial in St. John's Lutheran cemetery, Luana.
Kenneth Lewis Johnson was born March 11, 1931, in Winneshiek County, to parents Helmer and Myrtle Fosaaen Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church near Decorah. He received his education in country school near Decorah and Decorah high School graduating in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
On June 1, 1958 Kenneth was married to Dixie Land in the Methodist church in Luana. They had five children. Kenneth owned J and K transfer for a number of years. He and Dixie farmed for 30 years north of Luana on Dixie's parents farm.
Kenneth was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana and the Monona AmVets Post 27. He died Friday, May 12, 1989 at his home.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Arnold and one sister Marjorie Fosaaen.
Surviving is his wife, Dixie; three sons, Kevin of Madison, WI, Keith of Luana and Kert of Iowa City; two daughters, Deborah Johnson of Mankato, MN; one brother, Howard of Decorah, three sisters, Alice Anfinson of Decorah, Arlene Nelson of Wittenberg, WI and JoAnn Meyer of Luana and father and mother-in-law, Ole and Vivian Ruckhaber of Luana.
Pallbearers: Marvin Mohs, Keith Mohs, Jim Walter, Ron Keehner, Gerald Pape and Larry Koehner. Honorary Pallbearers: Norbert Palmer, Cliff Klinge, Lyle Sebastian and Marvin Kruse. Schultz's Funeral Home in Monona were in charge of services.
