Clayton County Register, 06 Oct. 1937.

MCGREGOR: Johanna K. Olson, daughter of Helge and Sarah Larson, was born on March 22, 1857, on the homestead just west of St. Olaf, where she spent her earlier day, along with two brothers. Here she was brought up in God's word and spent the remainder of her life as a faithful member of the Norway Lutheran church, always helping for its betterment and growth.

On April 25, 1888, she was united in marriage to John K. Olson, to which union were born two children, Stella Mae, who died in infancy, and Herb, who still survives. She was a faithful member of the Norway choir, having been a member of it approximately 40 years. She was an ever-faithful member of the St. Olaf Ladies Aid for many years.

Mrs. Olson was very active until Saturday, Sept. 25th, when sickness placed her under doctor and nurse's care. Death took her from our midst on Monday evening about 9 o'clock, Sept. 27, 1937, having reached the age of 80 years, six months and five days.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Olson; two grandsons, Homer and Nordine, all of Decorah; one brother, Lars, of McGregor; and many other relatives and a host of friends. Her older brother, Henry, preceded her in death two and a half years ago.
