Elkader Register, Thur., 22 Feb. 1906. Littleport column.
On Sunday, after a lingering illness of some months duration, death claimed Mrs. Mary Gifford, wife of H. L. Gifford, of this place. She had been a very patient sufferer and had hoped for recovery until the last. She leaves a husband, one son, three sisters and one brother to mourn for her. The funeral was held Wednesday, Rev. True officiating, and a large attendance attested the high esteem and friendship in which she was held. The floral decorations were both numerous and beautiful. At the age of only forty-eight years this young and popular life was cut off, leaving not only relatives, but a wide circle of friends to mourn. The remains were laid to rest in the littleport cemetery.
