Elkader Register, Thur., 22 Feb. 1906. McGregor column.
Mrs. Alvah F. Rogers, born Jan. 13th, 1867, in McGregor, Iowa, died Feb. 13, 1906. Kittie May Blackburn was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Blackburn, and spent nearly all her life here. After graduating from our High school in 1884, she taught school for a few years. On April 18, 1888, she was united in marriage to Alvah F. Rogers, and their union was blessed with four children, Fred, Jennie, Mary and Helen. Mr. Rogers has for several years been at the head of the Farmersburg schools, and the family home has been there for the past two or three years. The husband and children, her mother, her sister, Mrs. Sarah Walis, and her brothers, Riley D. Blackburn, of Postville, and Frank E., of Chicago, all mourn the loss of a loved and loving one. The sympathy felt for them is universal.
