Contributor: Connie Ellis (not related)Agnes Mary Frances Sullivan, age 97, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home. Agnes was born April 1, 1919 in Monona, Iowa, daughter of Alex and Cecelia (Fassbinder) Berns. She graduated from the Monona High School She married Thomas William "Tom" Sullivan in 1941 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona, Iowa. Tom passed away July 20, 1978. Agnes was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo.
Agnes is survived by her four sons, David Sullivan of Waterloo, Paul Sullivan of Malvern, Arkansas, John (Linda) Sullivan of Exeland, Wisconsin, and Bob (Marlys) Sullivan of The Villages, Florida; four daughters, Diane (Rick) Gordon of Des Moines, Iowa, Sally Sullivan of Bettendorf, Iowa, Mary (Joe) Boutott of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Beth (Mike) Sullivan Piskel of North Brook, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Theresa Heller of Hazel Green, Wisconsin and Delores Wagner of Monona, Iowa.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Hubert Berns, Leo Berns, and Joe Berns and one sister, Jeannie Keehner McGuire. Services were held on Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in the Mount Olivet Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa.
