SERVICES HELD WEDNESDAY FOR HENRY GEUDER
Native Resident Passes Sunday at Age of 81;
Services at St. John's

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at St. John's Lutheran church for Henry Geuder, Sr., native resident of Guttenberg. The services for Mr. Geuder who was 81 years of age at the time of his death, were in charge of Rev. W. J. F. Adix.

Although Mr. Geuder had been bedfast since he suffered a broken leg last May, he had been in fairly good health until last Saturday. At that time he went to sleep and failed to awaken. Death came at midnight Sunday.

The burial was in City cemetery and pall bearers for the services were Ewald Geuder, John Geuder, Will Geuder, Arnold Mueller, Fred Niehaus and Ernst Niehaus.

Mr. Geuder was born in Guttenberg on January 24, 1858, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Geuder. He was married on April 9, 1885, to Miss Mary Mueller at the St. John's church, and to this union nine children were born, three of whom preceded him in death.

Mr. Geuder worked for a time for the Zimmerman and Ives lumber yard and saw mill, later working for the Chalmers button shop until it closed.

Mr. Geuder is survived by his wife and six children, George, Mrs. Mollie Niemeyer, Mrs. Samuel Seeman, Mrs. Ed Niehaus, all of Guttenberg, and Ida, who lives at home, as well as Mrs. Hulda Thiese of Clayton. He also is survived by five grandchildren, one great grandchild, and three sisters, Mrs. William Beerman, Sr., of Guttenberg, Mrs. Helen Vanderham of Ireton and Mrs. Mary Vanderham, also of Ireton. Three brothers preceded him in death.
