John L. Palmer, a former resident of Clayton county, Iowa, passed away at his home at Spring Valley, Wis. on February 12, 1926 after a four week's illness and at the age of 65 years and 7 months. Deceased was born in Mallory township, Clayton county, Iowa on July 12, 1860, where he spent the greater part of his life on a farm.

He was united in marriage with Miss Kate Mallory, in Mallory township on September 10, 1882. Seven years ago he went to Spring Valley, Wis., with his family to reside, where he spent the remainder of his life.

Mr. Palmer was a kind and true husband, father, brother and friend and was held in high regard by all who knew him, and was a man who stood for righteousness at all time. The body was brought to the home of his nephew and niece, Dr. and Mrs. C.W. Palmer in Guttenberg Sunday evening, and the funeral was held on Monday afternoon, with services at the Bethel church in Mallory township, N.A. Hollingshead officiating. Internment was made in the Bethel cemetery.

His death is deeply mourned by his widow, five sons, Harry, of Los Angeles, Raymond of Rock Valley, Iowa, Gustav and Howard of Spring Valley, Wis.; one daughter Miss Edna Palmer of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two brothers, Richard Palmer of Spring Valley, Wis., and Witman Palmer of Blaine, Washington; one sister, Miss Emma Palmer of Duluth, Minn.; two grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends by whom this good and true man will be sadly missed.

The funeral was very largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near.
