Palmer, J.S. died 1885

J.S. Palmer, who formerly resided at this place, and who ran the Palmer House, died in California last week. Mr. Palmer came to Sperry township in 1855, and resided here until a few years ago, when he went to California for his health. He had many friends in this vicinity who will regret to learn of his death.

Note: From The History of Clayton County, 1882, Chapter XXXIX, Sperry Twp., in the Volga City description .... "... J.S. Palmer kept a hotel from 1877 to 1881, when he moved to Fayette."
