Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Norma L. Landt, age 82, of Luana, Iowa died Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Great River Care Center, McGregor, Iowa. Norma Lee Engelhardt was born on April 23, 1934 to Maury and Frances (Henderson) Engelhardt in Monona, Iowa. She was the third of six children. Norma was baptized on August 12, 1934 and confirmed May 16, 1948 in Monona. She attended rural schools and graduated from the Monona High School in May of 1951. Norma was united in marriage to C. Laverne Landt on April 12, 1953 and to this union four children were born.
Norma was a hard working farm wife and a caring mother to her children and grandchildren. In 1986 she decided to work outside the home by getting a job at Swiss Valley in Luana. Norma worked there for over ten years and enjoyed the people along with the hard work. She loved the card club that she and LaVerne belonged to for over fifty years.
Norma is survived by her husband, LaVerne of Luana, Iowa; her four children, Alan (Jan) of Luana, LeAndra of Sterling, Illinois, Neil (Cindy) of Luana, and LaRee (Bill) of Hiawatha, Iowa; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Daryl (Rita) Engelhardt, David Engelhardt, and Mary Jo (Gary) Chappell; brother-in-law, Martin Meadows and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents Maury and Frances Engelhardt; two sisters, Shirley Engel and Marilyn Meadows, and brother-in-law Marvin Engel.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 6, 2017 and funeral services were held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa with Rev. Harold McMillin as the officiant. Burial was in the St. John Cemetery in Luana.
