Postville, Ia. - Funeral services for Mrs. John Casten, 79, were held Tuesday afternoon in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.

Mrs. Casten died Saturday morning following a several months' illness.

Mary Magdalene, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Knodt, was born in Clayton County, June 22, 1864. She spent all her life in this community.

She was married to John Casten and to this union seven children were born. They spent their life on the farm until they retired and moved to Postville.

Surviving are Mr. Casten, now 82; five sons, John, Leonard, Victor, Lawrence, and Walter, all of Postville; one daughter, Mrs. Theresia Baltz, who has made her home with her parents; several grandchildren, and one great grandchild. A son, Carl, died in 1916.
