Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Schenke were held Tuesday afternoon at the Rhines funeral home at Edgewood. Rev. R.C. Scott, formerly pastor of the Methodist church officiated. Burial was in the Edgewood cemetery. Pall bearers were Edwin Tucker, Bill Tucker, Ralph Tucker, Clarence Tucker, Elmer Teed and Carl Kramer. Music was furnished by Mrs. Clarke Tyrell and Claude Rulon.

Mrs. Laura Florentine Schenke was born on a farm east of Strawberry Point on May 28, 1870, the daughter of William and Sophia Tucker. She attended the rural schools of her community and later learned dress making. After the early death of her father, she was employed in various homes and later went to work in the Hogan Tailor Shop in Strawberry Point.

She was married in 1894 to Jerry Schenke of Colesburg and they made their home there for many years. They moved to Edgewood in 1917. To this union were born three children, one dying in infancy. The two surviving are Harry of Masonville and Mabel, Mrs. Wayne Fitzsimmons, of Baltimore, Maryland.

She was a member of the Methodist church which she attended regularly. After her health failed, it was impossible for her to walk any distance so by faithful prayer, her mind was content and she was satisfied in her home. She spent last winter in Maryland with her daughter and enjoyed her trip to many places of interest. Thinking she could care for her home she returned to Edgewood in May, but son began to fail and grew steadily weaker as the heat increased. On Wednesday she was taken to Bolin Hospital in Manchester where she passed away Friday morning.

Preceding her in death were her husband, three brothers and six sisters. Surviving besides her two children are a granddaughter, Wilman June Fitzsimmons of Baltimore, two brothers, Henry and George Tucker of Strawberry Point, several nieces and nephews.
