Bernard Eilers Dies Following Heart Attack
FUNERAL SERVICES FOR AGED RESIDENT TO BE HELD THIS MORNINGBernard Eilers died suddenly of a heart attack Monday morning in his home here.
Mr. Eilers had eaten breakfast and gone into the front room. He sat down in a chair, gasped, and was dead. He had been in poor health for some time.
Funeral services were to be held at 9 a.m. today in St. Mary's church, of which he was a member. Burial was to be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. The Rev. J. A. Dupont was to officiate at both services.
Born in Jefferson Township
Mr. Eilers was born on a farm in Jefferson township January 25, 1863. He was 74 years of age at the time of his passing.
He was married at Dyersville June 12, 1888 to Miss Katherine Grawe of Dyersville. Mrs. Eilers died 13 years ago.
The couple lived on a farm in Jefferson township for several years following their marriage. Then they moved to Dyersville for a short time, and then came to Guttenberg 15 years ago.
10 Children Survive
Mr. Eilers is survived by five sons, Alois of Marshfield, Wis., Serenus of National, Leo of New Vienna, Gregor of Oil City, Penn., and Martin of Panama, Fla.; five daughters, Mrs. Alfred Pfiffner and Mrs. Clarence Frommelt of Guttenberg, Mrs. Arthur Wolter of Jefferson township, Mrs. Leo Kloser of Cassville, and Mrs. Arthur Curran of Monona; one sister, Mrs. Joe Uehle of Guttenberg; and 40 grandchildren.
