Died, in Monona, Nov. 1st, George Wiechman, aged about 62 years. Deceased was born in Falling, Bostel, Germany, and coming to this country when a young man landed in New York where he remained for a short time, working at his trade, that of manufacturing brushes. From there to Cincinnati, thence to Iowa, taking up his residence in Garnavillo, and for a number of years conducted a brush factory, and where, in 1870, he was married to Miss Ida Abel, residing in Garnavillo for a number of years, excepting two years he spent in Nebraska. They came to Monona about four years ago, Mr. Wiechman engaging in the saloon business, purchasing the property east of the Smith hardware store. He was a member of the Turn Verein Society of Garnavillo. The funeral was held Wednesday morning conducted by Rev. Braun, of Farmersburg, the remains escorted by a large circle of relatives and friends to Garnavillo. The funeral cortege was met at the outskirt of town by the Turn Verein Society, and escorted to the Lutheran church, in Garnavillo, where services were held. The remains were interred in the Garnavillo cemetery.
