GUTTENBERG, Iowa - LeRoy "Roy" A. Loeffelholz, 85, of Guttenberg, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at

St. Mary's Catholic Church, Guttenberg, with the Rev. Marvin Bries officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Guttenberg. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 207 S. 1st, Guttenberg. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.

He was born on Nov. 23, 1921, in New Vienna, son of George and Agatha (Meis) Loeffelholz. He received his education from the Petersburg School. He worked for area farmers prior to enlisting in the Army. He served with the 34th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star during enlistment. He also served as a medic in the 24th Medical Battalion during World War II.

On Sept. 17, 1946, he was united in marriage with Lucille Oberbrockling at Holy Trinity Church, in Luxemburg.

He enjoyed farming, spending time and playing cards with grandkids and wife, listening to his scanner, and going on drives.

He is survived by his daughter, Margie (Ken) Deutmeyer, of Guttenberg; two grandsons, Todd Deutmeyer, of Guttenberg, and Terry (Tracy) Deutmeyer, of Fairbank; a granddaughter, Dr. Cindy Deutmeyer, of Las Vegas; a brother, Charlie (Darlene) Loeffelholz, of Potosi, Wis.; and three favorite dogs, Jake, Macy and Marly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a grandson, Kraig Deutmeyer; five sisters, Helen Deutmeyer, Rosella "Sally" Schulte, Ester Fischer, Renilda "Nellie" Pasker, and Rita Mae Buhman; and two brothers, Louie Loeffelholz and Francis "Sonny" Loeffelholz.
