Sarah Estella Kauffman, daughter of John W. and Catherine Kauffman, was born near Jefferson, April 6th, 1884, and died at her home here Aug. 24th, 1903, after an illness of nearly eight months. During this time she has been a patient sufferer. Until a short time before her death she had great hopes of recovering. When she realized that she must go, she bade her parents, sisters, brothers and friends goodbye, and peacefully passed into the beyond. She possessed such womanly qualities that her taking away is regretted by all her friends, and a vacant place in her home can never be filled. The funeral was held at the Jefferson church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Rogers, of Colesburg, the remains being laid to rest in the Bolsinger cemetery. Kind friends showed their regard by their floral offerings and the sympathy of all is extended to the family in their time of sorrow.
