Elkader Register, Thur., 6 Aug. 1903. Three items all in the Littleport column.

Last Saturday evening at the home of Mrs. J. J. Liddy, occurred the death of Grandma Minnie Possehl. She was born in Mecklenberg, Germany, and came to this country with her husband and settled at Rochester, N.Y. From there they came to this place and for some time lived on a farm near Bear Creek. About thirteen years ago her husband died and since that time she has made her home with Mrs. Liddy. Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Possehl. One was killed during the war and the other still lives to mourn the loss of her kind mother. We must say that no woman ever lived a more ladylike life than Grandma Possehl. May she rest in peace.

On Saturday evening Grandma Possehl was summond to her final rest at the advanced age of 88 years. Hers had been a long, industrious and useful life and she laid down the struggle without a murmur. For quite a number of years she had made her home with the family of J. J. Liddy, from whose residence the funeral was held Tuesday and the remains laid to rest in the Littleport Union cemetery.

F. J. Wegener, of Harmony, Minn., attended the Possehl funeral Tuesday, Mrs. Possehl being his grandmother.

-- --

Fred Wegener and family, of Harmony, Minn., are with relatives, being called by the death of their grandmother, Mrs. Possehl.

Grandma Possehl died Saturday evening. She had been in poor health for several months past and while her demise was not wholly unexpected, it was never-the-less quite a surprise as she was to all appearances about the same as she had been for some time past.

She had been a resident of this place for many years and leaves a large circle of relatives and friends. She was 86 years of age and was always strong and robust, almost to the time of her death.

The funeral took place Tuesday morning and was largely attended.
