Cedar Rapids- Vernon T. Kluth, 65, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, in Mercy Medical Center following a long illness. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Turner West Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Susan; a son, Dale Kluth and wife Tami of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Pam Kester and husband tom of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Melissa Nicole Kluth and fiancé Eric Colby, Beau Daniel Kluth and Austin Leroy Kluth, all of Cedar Rapids; a great-grandchild, Karlee Michelle Colby of Cedar Rapids, whom he loved very much and loved spending time with; a niece, Jenny Kluth and son Brendon of Cedar Rapids; and a nephew, Danny Kluth of North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Merlin and Marvin.

Vernon was born Feb. 3, 1937, in Clayton County, the beloved son of Leroy of Neva Lickiss Kluth. He married Susan Sharp on Dec. 20, 1963, in Cedar Rapids. Vernon served in the U.S. Marines for eight years. He was a truck driver for Schweinfurth in Iowa City until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the Teamsters Union.

Note: Vernon T. Kluth is buried in the Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery.
