May C. Eno Olson, 96, Monona, Iowa, died Saturday, December 17, at the Good Samaritan Center, Waukon. May was born on February 18, 1915, at the Eno family farm home in Cerro Gordo County near Sheffield, Iowa, to William H. and Verena (Walter) Eno.
After May's father passed away when she was five, her mother moved May and her three siblings to Sheffield, Iowa, where they all graduated from Sheffield High School. She spent summer months on her brother's farms and on her Uncle Phillip and Aunt Maude Walter's farm in Clayton County, Iowa. Both places were like a second home to May and her siblings.
May attended junior college in Elkader for two years and received a degree in Home Economics from Iowa State College in 1938. She then spent 20 years caring for her mother until she married Telmer Olson in Monona, Iowa, on July 19, 1958. She transcribed Braille for 42 years for the Lutheran Church in southwest Iowa, in which she was certified by the government and church. She enjoyed giving attention to children. She loved to do any kind of handwork, such as quilting, crocheting and tattering.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews.
May was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Telmer Olson and her siblings
A private graveside service will be held at Marion Lutheran Cemetery, Gunder, Iowa.
