Tielbar, Gustav Herman 1883 - 1963

Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 3, 1963, at the St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg, for Gustav Tielbar, with the Rev. R. H. Steege officiating. Burial was in the Farmersburg-Wagner cemetery.

Gustav Herman Tielbar, son of Gustav and Charlotte Fascher Tielbar, was born in Germany Oct. 9, 1883, and came to the United States with his parents in 1894, settling at Garnavillo.

He received his education in the schools at Germany and Garnavillo.

Mr. Tielbar was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg.

He was married to Caroline Kluth, Oct. 6, 1908, at the home of her parents in Farmersburg Township, Clayton County, Iowa. They lived on a farm near Farmersburg for 25 years, then moved to Farmersburg where they resided at the time of his death, Oct. 31, 1963, from a stroke. He had been in failing health for the past four years.

After moving to Farmersburg, Mr. Tielbar worked for the Moser Construction Co., then for the lumber yard for 14 years, from which he retired.

Mr. and Mrs. Tielbar were privileged to celebrate their golden anniversary Oct. 6, 1958, and their 55th anniversary this year.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, May 3, 1917; a brother, Fred Tielbar; and a foster sister, Mrs. Anna Lenth.

Mr. Tielbar is survived by his wife; a son, Willis Tielbar; two grandsons, Billy and Roger Tielbar; and a sister, Mrs. Ida Ortman, Charles City.
