Funeral services were held for Loren E. Kregel, 58, Guttenberg, Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at St. John Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, with burial at the Guttenberg City Cemetery. Rev. Harold McMillin officiated. Pallbearers were Lee Moser, Merlin Moser, Dan Mueller, Ed Rodenberg, Curt Schroeder and Floyd Westhoff.

He was born February 12, 1940, in the family home near Guttenberg, Iowa, son of Floyd and Viola (Duwe) Kregel. He graduated from the Guttenberg High School in 1958; worked for the Hilton Homes Company, Clayton Craft, owned the Kregel Monument business, and was sexton of the Guttenberg City Cemetery. He farmed for many years and was an avid collector of tractors. On February 14, 1961, he was united in marriage with Kathryn Meisner at the United Methodist Church in Guttenberg. He died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital after a sudden illness.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn; one son, Paul (Cindy) Kregel; his mother, Viola Kregel; and two grandsons, Devon and Nicholas Kregel, all of Guttenberg.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd, on February 13, 1989.
