William Carl Frederick Dahlstrom was born in Clayton county, Iowa, Aug. 22nd, 1866. In the year 1877 he took up his residence in Farmersburg. He was married to Miss Mina Little, of Farmersburg, Iowa, July 20th, 1889, by this union were born four children, viz Frank, Earl, Hettie [Nettie] and Hervie. With these and his devoted wife he has lived in their pleasant home at Farmersburg, following the work of his trade, that of a carpenter and builder. At the time of his death, which occurred at Edgar, Neb., Oct. 10th, 1904, he was engaged on a contract when he was taken with appendicitis and before help could be secured, the messenger came which bore him hence. The deceased was a member of the order of Modern Woodmen of America, Camp No. 3240, located at Farmersburg, Iowa. The obsequies were conducted by J. Emerson Grinnell, pastor of the Congregational church of Monona, from the church at Farmersburg, where a large concourse of relatives, friends, neighbors, and members of the camp to which he belonged gathered to pay a tribute of respect to one they had known so long and whose memory was cherished in death. After the sermon, accompanied by choice selections of music from an able choir and surrounded by the sweet perfume of elegant flowers from the hands of loving friends, the cortege bore the remains to the cemetery, headed by the Camp corps, which tenderly consigned his body to the tomb, using the ritualistic form of burial prescribed by the order. Besides his immediate family he leaves to mourn his departure, three brothers, Herman, of South Dakota, August and Ernest of St. Olaf, his parents having preceded him to the beyond. May this separation be sanctified to the good of all concerned, bringing to their minds the fact that the earth is not our abiding place.
