Clayton County Register – Thursday, February 12, 1880
Stence – At the residence of her husband in Boardman Township on Saturday, February 7th of Lung Fever, Mrs. Mary, wife of Michael Stence, aged 70 years.
Mrs. Stence was born in Ireland in 1810 and in 1838, with her parents came to America, settling in Clayton county. In 1841, she was married to Michael Stence and removed to Boardman township, of which she has been a resident for nearly 40 years.
She was the mother of Mrs. Julia Hover, Mrs. Kelliher and Mr. John Stence, and also a son who is dead. She was the sister of Michael Uriell of this county.
The deceased was a good mother, a loving wife and a christian woman; she had many friends who deeply mourn her lose and sympathize with the family in their affliction.
The funeral occurred on Monday (February 9, 1880), services being held at the Catholic church in the place, and the remains laid away in the Uriell family burying ground in Read township, may she rest in peace.
