Services for Frances Ruegnitz, 87, of Guttenberg were conducted by Rev. Tom E. Martin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Mrs. Ruegnitz died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998 at the Guttenberg Care Center following a long illness.

Arrangements were by the Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader.

Interment was in Union Cemetery, Littleport, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Casket bearers were Gene Ruegnitz, Roger Ruegnitz, Craig Ruegnitz and Arlan Kickbush.

Frances Marie Ruegnitz was born Oct. 7, 1911 at Littleport to William and Elizabeth (Meese) Hildebrand. She was raised and educated in the Littleport area, graduating from Littleport High School.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth Ruegnitz on Oct. 11, 1935. They made their home and farmed near Elkport for many years. A short time after selling their farm, they moved to an apartment in Guttenberg. Due to ill health, they have both been residing in the Guttenberg Care Center.

Mrs. Ruegnitz had been a long time member of Hope Lutheran Church, Littleport.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth of Guttenberg; two daughters, Barbara Lanning of Galena, Ill., and Judy (Dave) Ellis of Newark, Calif.; one son, Bill (Jan) Ruegnitz of Emory, Texas; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Verda Micheal; and a brother, Virgil Meese.
