Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 29 Aug. 1912. In the Littleport column.

Mrs. Silvannes White died at her home just south of town last Thursday evening, Aug. 22nd, after an illness extending over the last three weeks. The following is a brief history of Mrs. White's life and in some respects it proves remarkable and far above the ordinary.

Lucy Ann Palmer was born in Mallory township, Clayton County, Iowa, on Nov. 15, 1855, and has made this locality her home for the past 40 years. On Feb. 29th, 1872, she was married at Cassville, Wis., to Mr. White, who survives her. She was the mother of nineteen children, ten boys and nine girls. Sixteen of these are living. Six of the boys are married and two of the girls. She was one of a family of nine and leaves twenty-two grandchildren.

Five years ago she moved with her family to the home near Littleport, which was the scene of her death. She was buried in Bethel church yard, north of Colesburg, where a large gathering of sorrowing relatives and friends had gathered to pay their last respects to the deceased. It is estimated there were two hundred teams present.

Rev. Ingran preached an able and touching sermon, dwelling on the merits of her life and the devotion she had given to her family and the rearing of so many children. Truly she had earned a place in the land beyond if for no other reason. We, with a large circle of friends hereabouts, extend our sympathies to all those left to mourn the loss of a faithful wife and mother.
