At her late home in Littleport, Iowa, on Sunday, March 12th, 1888, occurred the death of Sophia, the wife of Frederick Peick, at the age of 47 years, 9 months.

Deceased was a native of Britz, Mecklenberg, where she was born in 1840, she came to America with her parents, and in 1861 was married to Frederick Wegener by whom she had two children, who are still living, one being the wife of J. J. Liddy, of Littleport. A few years later Mr. W. was killed by an accident, and on Jan. 1st, 1869, she was married to F. Peick, who survives her. By Mr. Peick she has had seven children, of whom but three are living.

Mrs. Peick was beloved by all who knew her, being a good friend and neighbor and a loving wife and mother.

The funeral took place on Tuesday, and was largely attended by friends from all parts of the county. The members of the Elkader Gesang-verein attended the funeral in a body.
