DEATH OF J. H. CULBERTSON
Strawberry Point, Jan. 3 - With deep feelings of regret I am called upon to announce to you the death of one of our best and worthy citizens, J. H. Culbertson, after a short illness, died at his late residence in this township on Monday, the 27th ult., of typhoid pneumonia. The deceased was born in 1823 in Crawford County, Pa. He came to this town from Pennsylvania in the fall of 1865 and purchased the farm on which he died. He was a hardworking, energetic citizen, always ready to assist his neighbors in sickness. He was a leading member of the Patrons of Husbandry. He leaves a wife and nine children to mourn his death, also an aged mother who is nearly 85 years of age, and three brothers of the deceased are left. His funeral was held at the Universalist Church on the 29th ult. Services by Rev. Hicks. A large concourse of citizens were in attendance to pay their last respects to all that were left of the one genial J. H. Culbertson. In the various questions of the day he always seemed interested, whether social, political, or otherwise and always seemed to be governed by principal. In his death the widow has lost a kind husband, and the children their guide and counselor, and the vicinity a valuable and honored citizen.
