Helene Katherine Mame Rick was born in Hamberg, Germany, Nov. 22, 1847 and passed away at St. Olaf, Iowa, Feb 29, 1920 at the age of 45 years 3 months and 7 days.
She came to America in Sept. 1888 and was married to Alfred Geno, Feb. 8, 1884 at Prairie du Chien.
To this union were born eight children, two boys and six girls, namely: Daisy, Lela, Albert, Viola Marten, Elmer, Goldie, Irene and Norma. Three children preceeding their mother in death, Daisy, Viola and Elmer.
Besides these are left to mourn her, one sister, Mrs. Merritt Nading and one brother, William Rick, in America and her aged father and mother, one brother and two sisters in Germany, and one brother was killed in the war in 1916.
Services were held at the home Tuesday and interment was made at Strawberry Point, with Rev. C.H. Franke of Elkader officiating.
