Services were held Friday, April 17, at the First Congregational Church in Elkader for Maude T. Hommel, 91, Elkader. Ted B. Newton officiated and burial was at the Elkader Cemetery.

Maude was born August 13, 1889, in Gays Mills, Wis. She has lived in West Salem, Wis., Evanston, Ill., and moved to Clayton County in 1919. She was a graduate from nursing school. Maude was united in marriage in 1917 to Dr. P. R. V. Hommel in Evanston, Ill. To this union came two children, William, Aurora, Colo., and John, deceased. Maude died April 13, 1981, at the Central Community Hospital in Elkader.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Dr. P. R. V. Hommel in 1967 and her son John.

Survivors include a son William, Aurora, Colo.; one grandchild; a sister, Margaret Twining, LaCrosse, Wis., and several nieces and nephews.
