Delilah A. Smith was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, September 2, 1836, and died at the home of her son George in Kanaranzi, Minnesota, Monday morning, June 14, 1909, at 9:45 o'clock after a lingering illness.
She was married to George S. Snover in 1852 and in 1856 she, in company with her husband, left Scranton for the western country, settling near Edgewood, Iowa. Mr. Snover died on January 17th, 1881 at his home five miles southwest of this place (Edgewood). Mrs Snover united with the Un ited Bretheren Church while at Edgewood and remained a faithful member of same until its Head called her to the church triumphant. In 1897 she left Edgewood and returned to Scranton where she suffered a strake of paralysis the following year. She was tenderly cared for by her daughter until the death of the latter which occurred on the 18th day of January, 1909. Mrs Snover then returned west and went to make her home with her son George as stated above, where she passed away. She was the mother of eight children, six of whom waited on the other shore. Two sons, George and Will, and one sister, Mrs. Jane Rosenkrans, and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Alvina Smith, are left to mourn her death.
The funeral services were held in the Methodist church at this place on June 16, 1909, conducted by Rev.Frank Frizzell. The remains were tenderly laid to rest in the cemetery southeast of this place.
