Died, in Elkader, November 1st, 1871, J. Blasius, son of Wolfgang and Paulina Schmidt, aged 11 years.

A bright, promising little boy was Blasius, and one whom everybody liked, which was demonstrated by a very large assembly of mourners around his grave. The scholars of the Public School, under the direction of the principal and his assistants, turned out in a body to accompany his remains to their last resting place. Both at the house and at the grave, a highly interesting and impressive eulogy in German was delivered by Rev. Mr. Seiffert, of Clayton Centre. The parents have the tenderest sympathy of the community in their bereavement.

Both are buried in Eastside Cemetery, Elkader
