Clayton County Register, Thur., 28 June 1934.

John H. Larson was born in Wagner township, Oct. 17, 1852, the son of Holga Larson and Sarah Halverson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Norway church. He attended Luther college at Decorah, Ia., and was well educated and a great reader. He clerked in Elkader in the (looks like Place) General store and one year he was in partnership with Embret Embretson at St. Olaf in the store business. For several years he was the head clerk in the General store of Jarrett and Wilson at McGregor. After resigning from the Jarrett and Wilson store he bought out A. T. and T. O. Jones Boot and Shoe store which he operated for 52 years, his store being one of the largest in N.E. Iowa. In 1923 he sold out and retired from business. Mr. Larson and a brother Lars lived together at McGregor until the 10th of April, 1933, when Mr. Larson's health began to fail, then, with his brother Lars, he moved here to St. Olaf to make his home with his sister, Mrs. Johanne Olson. After a lingering illness he passed away on June (looks like 18th or 19th), at the age of 82 years. Much credit is due Mr. and Mrs. John K. Olson and brother Lars for the tender care given him in his declining years.

Funeral services were conducted at the Norway church, Friday, June 22, Rev. S. J. Strandjord of St. Olaf officiating. The services were attended by a large number of friends from McGregor and Elkader as well as from St. Olaf. The remains were laid to rest in the Norway cemetery.

Note: A Card of Thanks was signed by Lars H. Larson, Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Olson and children.
