Elizabeth Brockert was born in Dubuque County, Iowa, August 20th, 1848, and died in Elk Township, Clayton County, Iowa, June 9th, 1912, aged 63 years, 9 months and 9 days.
She was united in marriage with David Lighty November 10th, 1867, and to this union were born ten children, six of whom survive her - D.A. of Edgewood, Chas. W., Perry J., and Frank B. of Elk Township, Clarence G. and Louisa A Stevens of Lodomillo Township, and nine grandchildren. These children and grandchildren, together with her aged husband and one brother, George W. Brockert, of Cassville, Wis., survive her and were permitted to be with her during her last illness.
She united with the M.E. church in 1880 and lived a consistant Christian life until her death saying to her aged companion, "The Lord is sustaining me", upon her death bed. All that loving hands could do for her, was done but the Lord saw fit to call her home.
The funeral services were held at the home Tuesday forenoon, Elder Hubbell officiating, assisted by Rev. Turner. Internment made in Asbury cemetery.
A host of friends extended their deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.
