The funeral of Mr. John Robbins was held at the home of his son, Charles, northwest of town last Friday morning at 9:30, Rev. C.H True preaching the sermon. Internment was made in the family lot of his parents and other relatives in Mederville.
Mr. John Robbins was born in Canada, January 27th, 1838, and dies at Edgewood, Iowa, May 17th, 1916, aged 78 years, 3 months and 19 days.
He came to Iowa in 1855 and has since resided in Clayton County. There are seven children, four girls and three boys, all of whom are living: Mrs. Julia Nading, Dubuque; Mrs. Mary Brown, Clarksville; Mrs. Florence Hindal and Mrs. Eva Glazier, Edgewood; John Robbins of Graettinger, Iowa; Blaine Robbins of Lewistown, Montana, and Charles Robbins of Edgewood. There are also fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren surviving to mourn his death. He has one brother, Mr. Charles Robbins of Osborne, Iowa, and two sisters, Mrs. Rachel Wandell of Greene and Mrs. Malissa Abbott of Perry, Iowa, who are left to mourn. Mr. and Mrs. Wandell, of Greene, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hines and children of Dubuque and Mr. and Mrs. Dan McCann and baby of Troy Center, Wisconsin were to attend the funeral of their father and grandfather.
