A.O. Seward (Albert Owen )died at his home on Wednesday morning, May 17th, 1916, his death coming as a release from a weary illness of six months duration which he patiently bore.
The funeral was held from the home last Friday afternoon, the impressive service of the Masonic order being observed. The sermon was preached by Rev. Hubbell of Manchester, assisted by Rev. Heiserman of this place. Burial was made in the Edgewood cemetery.
A.O. Seward, son of S.T.( Sutliff Truxton ) and Antha Seward, was born in the town of Richmond, Ontario County, New York, June 18, 1842 and came west in 1863 to the vicinity of Edgewood, then called Yankee Settlement.
He was united in marriage on April 8, 1866 to Mary A. Annis and to this union were born two children, Merideth A Seward of St. James, MO., and Mary A. Edmunds of Terril, Dickinson County, Iowa.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, two children and eight grandchildren, the two oldest, Maud I. and Laura M. Seward living with them since infancy. He also leaves one brother and one sister.
Mr. Seward resided on his farm, ten miles south of here, about forty years, moving to Edgewood ten years ago, on account of poor health, which has since been his home. He has been a very kind and loving husband and father and will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
