Lu Nida, teen-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Lenth of Farmersburg township, was instantly killed last Thursday afternoon when she was struck by a car driven by R. W. Schug of Strawberry Point. The accident occurred on Primary No. 13 near the Mecklenburg school where the unfortunate girl was a student.

From the information obtained by the Register Lu Nida and a group of schoolmates were going home after school. The group was playing and running under a culvert some distance north of the school grounds. Mr. Schug, who is a truck inspector for the state railroad commission was enroute to Monona. He had observed the group and kept well to his side of the road to pass them. Lu Nida, according to the information, came up on the roadway in front of the car. The driver turned to the left in an effort to avoid hitting the youngster but he failed in his effort.

Authorities were called to the scene of the accident and at the coroner's inquest the following day the jurors - G. J. Graf, M. D. Richards and H. G. O'Brien, found that Lu Nida had been killed after being hit accidentally by a car. The inquest was held in the court house and eight witnesses were heard.

Lu Nida, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Lenth, was born July 12, 1926. She attended the St. John's Lutheran Sunday school in Farmersburg and also the Mecklenburg school. On Oct. 22, as she was returning from school she was struck by a car and killed instantly. She had reached the age of ten years, three months and ten days.

There remains to mourn her death her father and mother, one brother, Victor and two grandmothers, Mrs. Albert Lenth and Mrs. Geo. Wilker besides many other relatives, schoolmates and friends.

Funeral services were held in St. John's Lutheran church last Sunday and burial was made in the Farmersburg cemetery.
