Miss Bertha Gall
Miss Bertha Gall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Gall, was born Nov. 22, 1871, in Germany, and died June 26, 1956, at Parker, S. D., at the age of 84 years, seven months and two days.
At the age of eight Miss Gall came to Elkader with her parents. She received her schooling in the Elkader public schools.
She went to Mitchell, S. D., to keep house for her uncle, Charles Adams, after his wife died. Later she cared for her uncle’s grandson, Donald Adams, after his mother died. When her health began to fail she made her home with Donald Adams and his wife. For the past year, after suffering a broken hip, she resided at the rest home in Parker, S. D.
She is survived by one sister, Theresa, Mrs. H. D. Hinsch, of Estherville, and one brother, Carl Gall of Farmersburg. She was precede din death by her parents, and one sister, Linnie, Mrs. John Davis, of Arriba, Colo.
Funeral services were held at the Schultz funeral home June 29 at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. R. H. Steege of Farmersburg officiating. Burial was in the Farmersburg-Wagner cemetery at Farmersburg. Singers were Mrs. Carl Mueller and Mrs. Orval Mueller, accompanied by Mrs. R. H. Steege. Pallbearers were Kenneth Fuelling, Harold Kiple, Lester Oelke, Marvin Klinkenberg, J. J. Mathews, and James Mathews.
