OBITUARY
Mrs. Herman Gall
Mrs. Herman Gall died at her home in Farmersburg July 28 at 3 p. m.
Wilhelmina Adam was born in Prussia, Germany, May 15, 1849. She was baptized and confirmed in her native country. She was married to Herman Gall in 1874 and came to America in 1882. They lived in Volga City one year and eight and one-half years in Elkader. In the spring of 1889 the moved to Farmersburg where she passed away at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 13 days. She leaves to mourn her passing besides her aged husband, four children, Bertha of Mitchell, S. D., Theresa Hinsch of Calmar, Iowa, Lena Davis of Ariba, Cal., [sic] and Carl at home. Also two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Augusta Baars of Elkader, Mrs. Mentee in Germany and Carl Adam of Mitchell, S. D. One brother, August Adam, died at Volga City ten years ago. There are also ten grandchildren and one grandchild [sic]. The funeral was held in Farmersburg in the Lutheran church, Rev. Peper officiating in the church and at the grave.
The high esteem in which Mrs. Gall was held by her neighbors was manifested by the beautiful floral offerings at the funeral. The Frauen Verein of which the deceased was a member attended the funeral in a body, strewing the casket with flowers.
Rev. Peper and wife rendered a few songs in farewell of a beloved neighbor. Mrs. Gall was a quiet and unassuming woman, beloved and respected by all. She always had a friendly greeting for everybody and in the nearly forty years that she has been our near neighbor we never have known her to speak ill of anybody. A good wife and mother has gone but her memory will live with those who knew her best.
Card of Thanks
We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to our friends and neighbors who so kindly showed their sympathy at the passing of our beloved wife and mother and also for the beautiful flowers.

[TRANSCRIBER’S NOTES: The residence of her daughter Lena Davis is probably Arriba, Colorado. Her obituary does not give the date of her funeral, but a news note in the Farmersburg section in the same column as the obituary states, “Mr. Henry Hinsch and Milton and Delbert of Calmar, Ethel Hinsch of Cedar Falls and Loyd [sic] Hinsch of Cedar Rapids were here Sunday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Gall.” ]
