The death of Ernest Fuelling, of Farmersburg, occurred at the Moran hospital Tuesday, after he had been operated on. His physical condition was so poor that he could not rally after the operation. His body was taken to his home yesterday, where arrangements are to be made for the funeral. His family has been in quarantine for scarlet fever, and it is impossible to learn just what arrangements have been made. An obituary will be expected next week.

One of our most esteemed citizens, a man almost in the prime of life, a man as useful among men as loved by his family, was taken from our midst. Ernest Friedrich Luding Fuelling, born the 2d of March, 1861, at Bohnte, Hanover, Germany, the son of Gerhard Fuelling and Anna, nee Johannmeier. He was baptized in the faith of the Lutheran church in 1875 and came with his mother to Clayton county in 1870. He was married to Mary Rahle Jan. 27, 1888, and after living six years in Farmersburg township he bought the farm in Wagner township where he made his home until called to that eternal home. Nine children were born to this splendid man. Louis married to Hattie Kurth, Edward, Hilda, Wilhelm, Bernhard, Milo, Elsa, Lona and Lorah. Mr. Fuelling had been ailing for some time and it became necessary to remove him to Elkader where an operation was performed, but he was to weak to recover and on the 19th of February he passed on. He was 56 years, 11 months and 18 days old. Ernest was well liked and was entrusted with many responsible offices. He was president of the St. John's congregation, a member of the school board and a director in the Farmersburg and St. Olaf Creamery Company. He leaves, besides his family, two grandchildren, two brothers, Louis and Wilhelm Fuelling, of Farmersburg, two sisters, Mrs. Gellerman, of Heelsburg, Cal., and Juliana Baack of LeMars, Iowa. The funeral services were held from the home Friday, Feb. 22d, from the Lutheran church, interment being in Farmersburg and Wagner cemetery, Rev. F. Braun officiated.
