Services were held Thursday afternoon, Oct. 18, 1956, for Bennett Lee Palas, seven-year-old son of Gerald H. and Verda Mae Zurcher Palas, at the home of his parents near Farmersburg at 1:30 p.m. and at 2 p.m. from the St. John Lutheran church at Farmersburg. The Rev. R. H. Steege officiated. Burial was in the Farmersburg-Wagner cemetery.

Bennett Lee Palas was born April 14, 1949, and died at the Postville Community hospital of a congenital heart condition, Oct. 15, 1956. He had been under a doctor's care since birth. At nine months of age he received treatment at Rochester, Minn., and on Sept. 11, 1956, he was taken to the hospital at Iowa City and returned to his home Thursday, Oct. 11.

He entered the Monona-Farmersburg Community school in the fall of 1955. He was baptized in St. John Lutheran church, Luana, and for the past two years attended Sunday school at St. John Lutheran church, Farmersburg.

He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Zurcher, and is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald H. Palas, and one brother, Jerome Gerald.
