CHARLES FABER FUNERAL THURS. AT IONIA

Survived By Wife And Three Children

IONIA: Funeral services for Charles J. Faber, 73, will be held this afternoon (Thursday) at 1:30 at the home and at two o’clock from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ionia with Rev. Walter M. Fritschel officiating. Interment will be in the Cedar View Cemetery at Chickasaw.

Charles J. Faber, 73, died at five o’clock Tuesday morning, Feb. 15 at his home. He had been in ill health since suffering a stroke three years ago.

Charles J. Faber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Faber was born Oct. 1, 1875 in Clayton County. On Feb. 9, 1899, he was married to Miss Martha Miller. The couple began farming west of Ionia March 1, 1900, and later moved to Ionia.

Mr. Faber worked as a bridge carpenter on the Milwaukee railroad and for many years was buttermaker in the Ionia Creamery. He was a member of the Ionia school board for 20 years.

Five children were born to this union.

A week before his death they were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary with open house from 2 until 5 o’clock. A family dinner had been planned in the home of their son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Donald Richardson in Mason City on Sunday but Mr. Faber did not feel well enough to attend.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter Mrs. Donald Richardson (Florence) of Mason City, two sons, Arnold Faber of Charles City and Paul Faber of Ionia, five grandsons and one sister, Mrs. Mary Mathews of Hager City, Wis.

Mr. Faber was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Mrs. Ole Kranz (Elsie), one son, Clarence Faber who died when a child and one brother John who preceded him in 1944.
