Isabelle (Hulverson) Faber
Isabelle (Hulverson) Faber, was born Dec. 1st, 1853 in Norway, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ella Engelhardt, in Wagner township, on Wednesday, February 22, 1922 at the age of 68 years, 2 months and 21 days.
When four years old she came with her parents to America and settled in Clayton county, which has been her home ever since.
At the age of 15 years she was confirmed at the Norway Lutheran church.
On January 15, 1878 she was married to John Faber. The couple settled on a farm near National at first, later moving on a farm in Read Township, which was to be the home of the family for the next 30 years. After the children had grown up, and had families of their own, the old couple moved to St. Olaf about four years ago.
For some years Mrs. Faber was ailing with a complication of diseases, and about two years ago it was found necessary to take her to the home of her daughter, where she received the best of care.
Her departure is mourned by the aged husband, John Faber, and three children: Louis, at Garner, Iowa; Mrs. Mattie Schoulte, at Canistota, S. Dak., and Mrs. Ella Engelhardt, of Wagner township.
The husband has lost a faithful wife and companion, the children will miss a good and loving mother.
She also leaves six grandchildren and two brothers and three sisters, Lars Hulverson, at Elkader, Iowa; Gilbert Hulverson, at St. Olaf, Iowa, Mrs. Mattie Nelson, of St. Olaf, Iowa; Mrs. Christena Evenson and Mrs. Agnes Larson, both of Miller, Iowa, and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Franke on Sunday afternoon, February 26th, at the Engelhardt home and in the U. B. church in Wagner township.
Interment was made in the U. B. cemetery.
