Funeral Services Held Sunday for Gilbert Hulverson

ST. OLAF: Funeral services for Gilbert Hulverson, who died at his home Thursday night, March 20, were held Sunday afternoon with services conducted at the late home at 2:30 o’clock and at 3 o’clock at Norway Lutheran church. The Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiated. The Norway church choir sang at the church services. Burial was in Norway cemetery.

The casketbearers were Blaine Johnson, Leroy E. Larson, Floyd A. Orvis, Philmon Embretson, Oscar Thompson, Tov L. Torsrud, Roy Engelhardt and Alfred Knudson.

Gilbert Hulverson, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lars Hulverson, was born September 16, 1857, in Norway. About the year 1860 he came to this country with his parents, who settled on a farm in Clayton county.

In 1889 he was married to Emma Heckmaster. Five children were born to them, two of whom preceded him in death. His wife died in 1909. He is survived by two sons, Arthur and Robert, and one daughter, all of St. Olaf. His brothers and sisters all preceded him in death.

Those form away who attended the funeral were Mrs. Charlotte Mickelson and son Leroy of Canton, S. Dak., Mrs. Mina Williamson, Miss Julia Heckmaster, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Downie, Mrs. Mary Hulverson, Mrs. Harlan Lenth, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Nelson and family and Miss Mae Nelson, all of Elkader, and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Hulverson of Volga City.
