GEORGE KATSCHKOWSKY
Funeral services for George Katschkowsky, 62, who died last Thursday afternoon at Rochester, Minn., were held from the home Sunday afternoon, June 27, at 1:30 to Frieden’s Evangelical and Reformed church at 2 o’clock with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. Burial was made in the East Side cemetery.
Mr. Katschkowsky had gone to Rochester just two days before his death to go through the Mayo clinic. He had been ill only a short time. The immediate cause of his death was a cerebral hemorrhage.
George Katschkowsky, the son of Herman and Pauline Katschkowsky, and the eldest of six children, was born Oct 16, 1880, at Elkader, Iowa. He was married Aug. 17, 1910, to Ruby Leibrock of Elkader. They made their home on a farm until 1920 at which time they moved to Elkader and have made their home here ever since. Mr. Katschkowsky was employed by Schmidt Brothers at the mill and power plant and for 23 years by the Central States Power and Light corporation.
Mr. Katschkowsky was a member of the Frieden’s Evangelical and Reformed church and Elkader Lodge No. 72 A. F. and A. M.
Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Laurine Engel of Wilmette, Ill., and Miss Kathryn at home; one son, Lieutenant Robert Carl Kent [sic] of the U. S. Army at San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, William and Fred Katschkowsky, and one sister, Mrs. Carrie Hochhaus, all of Elkader; also three grandchildren, Bobby and John Engel of Wilmette, Ill., and Bobby Kent of San Antonio, Texas.
Out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Leroy L. Leibrock of Olin, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Leibrock and family of Wauwatosa, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Engel and children of Wilmette, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Engelhardt, Mrs. Minnie Engelhardt of St. Olaf, Mr. and Mrs. Edison Lenth and family of Waukon, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Tielbar of Farmersburg, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johns of West Union.
Pallbearers were Roy Engelhardt, William Reimer, Henry Wolf, George Taake, August Taake, and E. W. Carlsen.
