GRACE P. MORSE

Grace P. Morse, 88, died at the home of her daughter and family, Judge and Mrs. Albert Habhab in Ft. Dodge, April 6, 1979. Mrs. Morse, who had been in poor health for the past year, died of heart failure.

The daughter of Frank and Louise Leibrock, she was born in Elkader June 12, 1891. On November 10, 1915 she married Dr. Robert Morse, an Elkader dentist, and they made their home in Elkader. Dr. Morse died in 1953. They had one daughter, Janet.

A member of the Congregational Christian U. C. C. church in Elkader she was director of the choir and active in all activities of the church. A fifty year member of Order of Eastern Star, she had been a member of The Coterie, memorial chairman of the American Cancer Society, member of the Eastside Cemetery Association and the Elkader Library Board as well as a director on the first Central Community Hospital board. She also worked for many years with the Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, and grandchildren, Robert and Mary Beth. Also two nieces, Mrs. Edward Bennett, Woodstock, Vt., and Mrs. Herb Engel, Atlanta, Ga., and a nephew, Dr. Robert Kent, Wilmette, Ill.

Funeral services were held April 9 at the Congregational Christian church with the Rev. T. B. Newton officiating. Burial was in the Eastside cemetery. Pallbearers were Brian Gifford, Ben O’Meara, John Wildman, Bob Allen, Ray Lemka and Orval Sullivan.
